March 2005 Updates

3.30.05 - Some FMA screenies

I updated the Fullmetal Alchemist screencap section with seventy-five new screencaps. Thirty-four are for the Undo opening, fourteen are for the Motherland ending (3rd opening and endings), as well as twenty-seven screencaps for the second trailer for the Conqueror of Shambala movie that's coming out this summer in Japan.

Undo and Motherland screencaps were made from some raws I had downloaded, so some of them are a bit pixelated (for the most part they're not). When their clean versions are released on DVD, I'll redo them (that won't be until the end of the year though).

The movie's second trailer is also pixelated, but that would be my fault. I'll just copy and paste the explanation that's on it's page:

I screencapped the trailer at 200% of the original size. I did this so they'd be easier to use for making graphics (as you can mess with the quaility during the process of editing). So if you just want better quality versions of these, reduce their size by 50%.

Click! See, you can get rid the pixels with some filters and overlays, not that difficult. I should get episode four up sometime soon, as the second DVD comes out next week. You can download the second trailer at hagaren-movie.jp. ;)

3.25.05 - Black Cat

This is the first update to the Black Cat section since I added it to the site. I need to start updating sections more often, lately the only one's I've been working on are Cardcaptor Sakura and Fullmetal Alchemist.

Anyway, I updated the Black Cat section with 85 new images. There are new images for Train, Saya, Creed, Jenos, Kyoko, Sven, Sephiria, Eve, and also all group sections. About half of all the new images were for Train though. I'm gonna be adding some more scans from the Matatabi character book sometime, and I hope to get the 'Making of Black Cat' short comic up in the future as well (untranslated). I already have all of the color illustrations from the Matatabi up.

Something I noticed, which isn't all that important, but both main male leads from Black Cat and FMA have gold eyes. I added them at the same time, and I never noticed that. I don't think there's many other similarities between the two though...

[edit] I fixed the links to the covers for Kodocha from volumes four through nine. I just now noticed that the links were wrong, sorry about them being incorrect since July. ^_^'

3.20.05 - Fullmetal Alchemist Screencaps

I tweaked the layout a bit more, it just didn't really pop at you at all and the colors were kinda dull. So now I think it's a bit more bright, hopefully.

Anyway, I finally got my butt around to getting episode three up for Fullmetal Alchemist. I had made the screencaps for this episode last month, but put off adding them. I'm trying to stretch out the screencaps until the next DVD is released, which'll be in a couple weeks. This episode is the first one of quite a few flashback episodes, so you won't see Ed as a teenager for a while. I'm going to try to order the manga artbook soon, but not until who I order from gets volume 10 of the manga (it has a real nice cover I want to scan).

Well, that's it for now. There's a big storm passing by right now, and I need to turn off the computer due to the lightning. The rain is coming down horizontally and the hail is hitting my window, so I guess I should. ^_^'

3.18.05 - New Layout

Yep, new site layout. I wanted to make a new layout for the sites domain b-day, but I got it done early. Oh well, it's here.

I really liked the last layout, but it had been up for a couple months and was getting past it's season. I had considered skinning the site and having both layouts up (since they're kinda similiar), but the way I have the site contents laid out it would have been rather difficult (not to mention having to recode every page on the site...).

This layout features Edward Elric from the Fullmetal Alchemist manga, format is tables and css. The image used is from the 2005 Comic Special Calendar, which you can find in the FMA scans section. Brushes used on the layout are from The Magic Box. It's been a while since I found a PS brush site that had brushes for PS 6.0. It's quite a good site, check it out!

Other than the layout, no other updates today. I should have some stuff up in a couple days. Oh yeah, refresh the page if things look funky. ;)

3.16.05 - Kodocha

Like I promised in the previous post, I updated the Kodomo no Omocha section with some manga scans. These cover about the first half of volume four, there are 68 of them. I'll get around to scanning the second half of the volume later on, it just takes a while to scan parts of whole volumes. Although, I have had scans for the covers and illustrations for all volumes up since I first brought Kodocha to the site, I just have scans from the actual story for the first 3 1/2 volumes.

BTW, am I the only one that noticed that the editing Tokyopop did to this manga is a bit subpar? I've seen better editing by some scanslation groups, and that's a tad sad seeing as I paid for this. o_O

3.11.05 - Saikano Manga

Well, I haven't updated Saikano in a while, have I? Anyway, I updated the manga section with 17 new images which round out volume 2 of the manga. I reorganized the manga section according to volume and color, so it's a bit more organized.

These images are all cropped and edited images from scanlations, from volume 3 on they will be my own scans. Volume 4 won't be released until mid April, so after I scan volume 3 that'll be it for a while (unless I order another DVD...). If you like Saikano, I suggest checking out some of Shin Takahashi's other works, they're all good. Only problem is that Saikano is the only one that's been licensed.

I'm now on Spring break, so I have some time to get some site work done (I live where the spring breakers go, no way I'm going to the beach when it's this crazy). I'm gonna try and get some more screencaps up for Cardcaptor Sakura and Fullmetal Alchemist, as well as some scans for Black Cat and Kodocha (two series that haven't been updated since I added them to the site). Speaking of Kodocha, the first DVD of the anime is going to be released on June 28.

On another note, the 22nd is the site's 3rd year of being a domain (and also my 22nd birthday...). I can't really remember when I started the site, but I do know that I reset the tracker on 10/21/01 and it's currently at 774,876 unique visitors (at the current rate it'll be two years until it hits a million). So, it's been around 4 years now since I started the site. I think I may do something special for the domain b-day though, but I don't know what yet. We'll see. ^_^
